English is currently considered the most important language worldwide. The English language is present in almost all the world and is considered the main element of communication amolng very diverse cultures that share few or no common traits.

English is important because it allows us access, on the one hand, a more comprehensive, complete and quality education, which in tum translates into a greater possibility of finding work, and that this of higher quality. In most job English command gives you more points in your favor.

Furthermore, learning English, a universal language, is very useful in your day to day, since English allows you to travel to many places without having to worry about if you get lost and can not ask anyone or be fooled or robbed.

In conclusion, it is important to learn English because it allows you a formation and education of quality to travel to several countries without worrying and also, helps you to know and communicate with new people.

The talk of Anindy Jundu has made me think s lot. His talk speaks about the difficulties that students have. Some of them, have difficulty studying for money, others for addictions... He has talked about two specific cases: Tyrique and Vanessa.

Tyrique was arrested for armed robbery, but in prision, he began to work hard, he took university courses and when he got out of prision he achieved a master's degree and today he is a manager of a non-profit organization.

Vanessa, had to move around a lot as a kid, she was raised primarily by her extended family because her own mother has a heroin addiction. At age 15, Vanessa hat to drop out of school because she has a son of her own. But eventually, she was able to go to community college, get her associat's and then go to an elite college to finish her bachelor's.

Listening to these stories has made me understand that despite the difficulties that a person may have, you can get what yo want with effort and dedication.

Throughout the years, the development of technology has facilitated many things to us, thanks to the mobile we can communicate with many people, thanks to the internet we can know what happens in different countries without need to be there and now we can also buy things online, the question is, is this an advantage or a disadvantage?

Shopping online has many advantages, firstly, you can buy from your house without the need to move from your house if you do not want. Besides, a shops online are opened 24 hours 365 days a year so you can buy what you want at any time.

Secondly, you do not have to do the long queue to pay in cash and thirdly, you can buy products that would not be physically available, such as clothes from American stores.

In spite of the fact that shopping online offers many advantages, it also has disadvantages. One of the disadvantages of buying online is the lack of communication and personal relation that exists among  the manager and the client, it is not the same thing when you are assisted by a person to what a machine does.

Shopping online does not allow you to see the product either, therefore, you wouldn’t know what you have bought until it comes to you to house. This often to causes many problems, since people often do not receive things as they see them on the computer.

To sum up, shopping online has its advantages and disadvantages. Which is better? It  depends on the client.

Hey science teachers- make it fun.

I have seen Tyler Dewitt's talk entitled "Hey science teachers- make it fun" and I found it very interesting. Besides showing different ways of teaching science, it has made me see the importance of convincing people that what we are saying is important, as he says "We have to convince our audience that what we’re talking about matters, but just as important is knowing which details we should leave out so that the main point still comes across”.

I think the most interesting thing about the conference is the way in which it has exposed the problem of teaching science to youth.

In science books, in addition to having very specific words for a term, there are often definitions that are difficult to understand. And I ask myself, is it necessary for teenagers to learn them? That is, some, very few, will study a science career but others will not. So, why do you need it?

In conclusion, a detailed scientific communication between experts is important, but when trying to teach young people it is necessary to simplify this detailed information so that they can learn in an easier and enriching way.

The Theory Of Ideas by Plato

The Theory of Ideas raises the existence of two worlds: the intelligible world and the sensitive world.

The intelligible world is eternal, unconceived, immobile and, therefore, it is a world in which nothing changes. Here it is where there is the "eidos", which is what determines the ideas, the real being or knowledge ( episteme ). In the intelligible world the ideas represent the essences of the objects of knowledge. Those ideas exist indepently of the subject that thinks them and of the objects of which they are essence so, the ideas are unique, eternal and immutable.

However, the sensitive world is submitted to change, here it is where we find the things that are susceptible to opinion ( doxa ). Therefore, this one will not be permanent, not fix, not dtermining and in consequence it will never have validity for the knowledge, that is, you can never say what they really are. Here, we receive sensations ( aisthesis )  and they are these those who fill the sensitive knowledge. Thanks to the aisthesis we catch the sensitive figure, the images and they allow us, therefore, the capture of something that belongs to the plane of the things.

 

In this way, Plato, with the methesis, explains to us the relation among the sensitive world and the intelligible world. And with the mimesis he tells us that the things of the sensitive world are related to the ideas because they are an imitation of the above mentioned, so that things are a mimesis or imitation of the ideas.

Barack Obama is an American politician who became the 44th president of the United States of America. He was born in August 4th, 1961 in the city of Honolulu, Hawai and nowdays he is 57 years old. Barack Obama is a son of Barack Obama Mr, a Kenyan economist; and Stanley Ann Dunham, an American anthropologist.

Barack Obama is a very extrovert, reliable and capable person. He has a great leadership and also he is altruistic because he wishes the good od the persons in a desinteresed way. H ealso listens to the opinions of other persons even if they are in contradiction with his opinions, it helps him to take better decisions because he can see other points of view.

Barack Obama is keen on basketball, he actually adapted the tennis  court in the With House grounds into a basketball court. He likes to play poker and golf. Also, he likes to read and write books. He wrote "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream".

One of Barack Obama's future plans is to write a book or to support young democrats. He said that he would like to create plataforms to form, to give power, to connect and to encourage the next generation of leaders.

Are we too dependent on mobile phones?

The mobile phone is a device that receives ans sends out communications to long distance and is connected to a telephonic network. The mobile phone was invented in 1854 by Antonio Meucci and since then the frecuency of use of this divce has increased notrably.

Nowdays, people don't go out to the street without their mobile because we can do meny things with it. With this device we can make calls, take photos, put alarms, see videos...

I think that the mobile phone is an adventatge and simultaneously a disaventatge, because thanks to it we have left aside many things that we were in the habit of doing. The people should control the use of the mobile phone to enjoy a bit more what we have araound us.

Ariadna Montesinos Royo was born in March 22nd, 2001 in Sant Pau, Barcelona. She is a student of the scientific Batxillerat in INS La Pineda. Her mother, Alicia Royo Martin, works as a butcher and her father, Andreu Montsinos Ruando, works as an engineer.

Ariadna Montesinos has had many pets, nowdays, she has a rabbit called Moustache and a cat called Pearl. She was doing rhytmic gymnastics but she gave it up because this sport caused back pain to her. She studied Compulsory Secundary Education in the high school INS La Pineda. In this high school she has made many good friends and very good memories.

At the moment, Ariadna Montesinos is studying scientific Batxillerat in INS La Pineda to go to the university become a teacher of chemistry. She surely will fullfill her dream.

William Bradley Pitt was born in December 18, 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma (EUA). He is an actor and producer of American cinema. His mother, Jane Etta, works as a secretary in a high school and his father, William Alvin Pitt, is an owner of a company manufacturing of trucks.

Brad Pitt went to the University of Missouri, but two weeks before graduating he left the university and moved to Los Angeles to take classes of dramatic art. Since he was young he loved the cinema. He was considered the cinema as "a portal towards different worlds". So he fought fir his dream.

Thanks to his perseverance he appeared in many movies and also he has win many prizes. His movie, 12 years a Slave, has an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award for the best movie.

Brad Pitt, has only had two marriages. He married Jenifer Aniston in 2000 but they broke up in 2005. He married for the second time with Angelina Jolie in 2014 but nowdays they are divorcied.

At the moment, Brad Pitt is working in his company Plan B entertainment and soon he will lead together with Leonardo Di Caprio a film produced by Quentin Tarantino.

Give advice

You have noticed your best friend cheating in an end-of-term exam. A lot of teens cheat, but you and your friend have always been against it, up to now. What would you do?

If I found out that my best friend cheats in the exams I would try to speak with my friend and I would say to him that he shouldn't chat in the exam because an exam is done to show what you have learned. Though also I think that an exam isn't the best way to prove what you have learned because some persons get nervous and they hav a mental block which makes them fail the exam.

Apart from that, I would say to him that if he chats it wouldn't be fair for his classmates because they study hours to get a good mark and he only copies in half an hour... In addition, imagine that you are a doctor and that you get a degree cheating, what will you do when you have apply something that you should have learned at university?

In short, I would give him a good talk ans I would try to give him some advice so that the next time he prepares better for an exam. And I would also tell him that I wish he would never cheat again.

My Gap Year

My gap year.

If I had a gap year and enough money, I would go to Amsterdam to learn about their traditions and visit their landscapes.

I would go to Venice to enjoy a relaxing walk in gondola along the Great Channel of Venice. And later, I would see the Bridge of the Sighs. The view from the Bridge of the Sighs was the last sight of Venice that the condemned saw before their imprisionment.

I would travel to Indonesia to get away from the noise of the city. It's worth going.

I would visit Scotland to learn and speak English fluently. And to visit its beautiful landscapes clearly.

If I go to Butan I would definitely go to visit the Tiger's Nest, a sacred Buddist temple. It would be an unforgettable exprience.

Finally, Iwould go to Japan. I've always wanted to learn their culture and traditions.

A Foreigner in Britain

My name's is Antonio and I'm Spanish. I worte my book, A foreigner in Britain, because it was a homework for the university. We had to write stories about our lives. I decided to write about my trips to England, Scotland and Wales, because they were fascinating experiences in my life and I really wanted to write my first impressions, the country, the people, the culture, the food...

My book explains the relaxed atmosphere thet there is in London, because I felt so disappointed when I went to Trafalgar Square to celebrate the new year, it explains when I went to the original Globe Theater where most of Shakespeare's plays were performed.

Also, my fascination when my friend Paul and I saw an orthodox Muslim women who only had his eyes uncovered and I speak about all of the people of all cultures that celebrate together the Caribbean carnival in London.

When I handed over my homework to my teacher and read the title said it seemed entertaining and when she returned it corrected, he told me that it was fun to read and should continue writing. It's words cheered me up and when I finished the University I decided to publish the book.

Writing the book I realized that I had learned a lot about the customs and traditions of those countries and that I had made more friends than I already had. I had a great time writing this book and I hope you have fun reading and learning at the same time.

I was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia a country located in the south of America. Santa Cruz is the biggest and most populated city in Bolivia. Santa Cruz has a population of 1 453 549 people.

Santa Cruz is one of the richest cities of Bolivia because it has a lot of industry, gastronomic places and enough places to see. Because og it is alsothe city with more tourists.

If you pay a visit to Santa Cruz you have to go to see the Botanical Garden of Santa Cruz that provides 500 species of animals!

And you cannot miss its carnival if you go in February. The people dance, have fun... But though the carnival of Santa Cruz is incredible Oruro's carnival is the most impressive, This carnival includes all the cities of Bolivia.

The weather in Santa Cruz is very hot. January is the warmest month and the coldest June. The highest registered temperature was of 46ºC and the lowest -3ºC.

This city is famous for his food. A very rich dish is the churrasco though for me the best food is the cuñape. It is delicious.

What I like best about Santa Cruz is that we are so close to nature. When I'm tired of city life, I can easly get out and enjoy the mountains, rivers, waterfalls...

I didn't now that there were the fashion spies until I read this essay and now that I know it, I think "seriously are there people who spend the day in the street looking for trends?"

I think that the companies that have fashion spies are intelligent because they observe how the population dresses to adapt their garments to what the people want and this way they sell more and people have what they want. If they asked me to be a fashion spy I would say to them that no, bacuse I am too lazy to do it.

In addition, young people nouwdays spend too much money on clothes and cosmetics. Every day when I go to high school I see the girls of first of eso with a lot of make up and I wonder are they have masks or something?, and also I see them wearing T-shirts so short in winter. I don't know how they don't catch a cold.

An opinion essay

Often, while I was doing history or philosophy I was listening often the questions: "is it useful this?" or "this is a waste of time", Ialso was asking the same thing myself and after a time someone gave to me the answer and made me see that it was useful.
The person who was answered me seid to me that history is useful, firstly, not to forget the fact of the past, for example, the people who have died for defending the rights of the persons and thank to them we have advanced as a society. And secondly to try not to make the same mistakes of the past.
Also, he said to me that the philosophy is useful to think about our actions and about the things that have happened and happen in the present.
In my opinion, this person is in the correct and I agree with him. So instead of not paying attention in these classes I started learning from them.
To conclude with this theme, I don't belive that history and philosophy are a waste of time and money.

One of my favourite photos is one that my class and I did in 3rd of Eso.
I don't remember who took the photo, but I remember we did it with our social sciencies teacher, Ana Dobaño, who was retiring in the second quarter. We took the picture in our class at the high school, La Pineda.
Before taking the picture we were doing social sciencies class when we started talking about her retirement. We all loved her,she was a good teacher and we wanted to have a memory with her before she left.
I like this picture because all my classmates were there and we all got along well, we helped one another... I loved my 3rd class of eso.

My name is Keyla.I'm from Bolivia but I live in Badalona. I am 16 years old, and I'm a high school student. I'm studying the scientific Batxillerat. I'm in my first year and I think it's hard.
I think my phissical appearance isn't bad or good, it's normal. I have black hair and it's long and straight. And my eyes are brown.
I think those who don't know me think I'm serious because I don't smile much but with my friends I laught a lot. But I can be serious too whaen I need to be.
I don't have much free time because the high school sends a lot of homework and when I don't do homework I help my parents at home. But I try to finish everything before Saturday to have Sunday free and go for a walk, watch TV....
In the future I would like to go to university, I still not know what I wil do but I want to go to the university.
