The goal of the research of human cloning has never been to clone people or children to spare.

The research aims to obtain stem cells to cure disease.

In 1996, Dolly the sheep was cloned. It was the first animal cloned from an adult sheep's DNA and not from an embryo. Though Dolly seemed to be healthy enough, there were questions whether she would age faster than a normal sheep. In addition, they had to do 277 attempts to achieve a live birth.

There are stil moral and ethical ideas in our society. But who knows maybe in 50 years's time things won't be the same.
