Patricia Kuhl: The linguistic genius of babies

Today I searched talks to practice listening to the test for tomorrow, I've found this talk very interesting.
This talk is about the developmental factors that influce a baby to learn a new language.
It's very interesting to know when we are able to learn many languages ​​and how we develop our brain.
Personally, I'm trilingual since I was little, and I think it's important to learn many languages​​ since we're children, so we have the brain more developed and better able to recognize and learn foreign languages.
It is also interesting the experiments which the researchers did with the children, learning how people affect our learning, we learn more with people than watching tv.

WATCHING FILMS IN THE CINEMA IS BETTER THAN WATCHING FILMS ONLINE

Most of us have watched films online that we have downloaded, we enjoy watching films online, but some people argue that going to the cinema is better. In this essay, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of going to the cinema instead of watching films online.

On the one hand, going to the cinema is better because there is a great atmosphere, with the loud sound and big screen, with people laughing, screaming and crying, that depends on the type os film. Another advantage is that you can go out, walking, enjoying the film and coming back home. In addition, when we go to the cinema, we help the actors and technicians.

On the other hand, cinema tickets are more expensive than online films. However, we cannot feel the film, whereas in the cinema we can feel the atmosphere. Moreover, when we download films, it is clear that there is the probability that we download viruses or anything alike.

To sum up, watching films in the cinema is a fantastic experience. However, I think it is also great to relax watching a film at home.

I think that I would be suitable for the job because I have had a little brother and I was taking caring of him. I worked the last summer with one family babysitting their children, so I have experience with children and I love them. I like playing with children, I think they're naive and honest.

SARAH RIANI

Sarah was born 8th August in 1983 in Lyon ( France). She's a famous French singer, writer and pianist. She began in music when she was five years old, but her success began when she was sharing her videos in youtube.

She was singing famous songs in her bedroom until one of the most famous producers watched her video songs.
In one week, her videos went up to the top 10 in youtube. When she released her first album, it was very succesful, specially in Lyon ans Paris.

Personally, I like her songs, I was in her concert and her voice is very sweet. She's amazing singing.
Recently, she has begun to work in a new album about poverty.
Nowadays, she's famous but she continues singing in her pub.

MY OPINION ABOUT FACEBOOK

Nowadays everything is easier with new technologies, we can communicate with foreign friends, share our photos, experiences...
But what about social networks, specifically Facebook?

I would say that Facebook was set up by Mark Zuckerberg in order to connect with family and friends. This social network is spreading more, specially among teenagers.

Personally I think Facebook is fairly important, we can do anything online of all issues but we must be careful with privacy, we aren't famous but If we aren't in control of our privacity, strangers will be able to see our photos, our wall, publications as well.
I wish is didn't happen!

In my view, we should all pay attention to the small print in social network's contract, even if we're busy.
It's widely known that there are people who spend a lot of time in front of the computer. As I see it, it isn't suitable, we can enjoy more meeting our friends.

To sump up, I want to recommend the Facebook's film to people if they are interesting about this matter.
It's worth watching!!

A HOLIDAY IN CATALONIA

Would you like to spend your holidays in this detached house on the Catalonia coast?

It's a spacious house, inside there are five bedrooms, one single room, a large kitchen with all electrical appliances, two bathrooms, sauna and two lounges, one to enjoy

with friends and another for watching films or talking with the family.

Outside the house there are breathtaking views of the skyline and the beach from the swimming pool. It has a huge garden with two swimming pools, one for children and the other for adults, which is ideal for swimming and having fun with your loved ones.

It's a quite, safe neighbourhood and the great majority of neighbours are tourists, in this way you won't have any problems with language.

It's a beautiful area with a lot of parks. The house is walking distance from stores and restaurants in the town and a short drive by bicycle from areas with excellent discotheques!

This house is perfect for families or groups of friends!

Eurovisión 2010

Hey guys! the other day on TV broadcast Eurovision 2010. I really liked, so I leave this video, this is the video of the winner, the winner was Germany. The song is called satellite and the lyrics is ok!

MY OPINION ABOUT SCHOOL DROP-OUTS

Nowadays in Spain, many students complete only the E.S.O. As a result, this can cause serious problems for the student, their families and the country. Is it right school drop-out ? Absolutely is isn't !!

I think there are many reasons why students leave school early.
Family problems are one cause since if parents are divorced, no-one may be taking responsibility for the teenager.

The second problem is money, in many countries college is free, but unfortunately in Spain we should be paid. What's more, some students want to work in order to support their families or help themselves. Perhaps the main reason why students drop out is for academic reasons. For many students, school is stifling and very boring, they prefer drop out school and work hard or just saty at home, being lazy. But there are others who have learning difficulties that need specialist help.



As I see it, I think the problem of school drop-out can be reduced by the students and the government. In fact, college should be free like in other countries.

As far as I'm concerned, drop-out isn't a good idea. The way to solve this problem is improving oneself, leaving aside the problems.

MY FAVORITE TV SERIES

My favourite tv series is called " 90210 Beverly Hills". It's one of the most popular TV series about youths in America. Before, it was shown in Spain, but now it's only shown in America and I have to catch up with the series online with subtitles in spanish.

The plot is about teenagers who live in Beverly Hills, the richest city in California, all are rich. What's more it's about teenagers' problems such drugs, friendship, studies, parties, teen pregnancy...

Recently, there has been the season premiere, it's becoming more exciting but I can't always see it, I have too much homework!!

The truth is that, personally, I prefer to see the chapters online because this way I can improve my English!

All in all, I'd recommend this series to everyone who likes enjoying watching series because it has everything, it's really amazing and really entertaining!

It's worth watching " 90210 Beverly Hills"!!

IF I WON THE LOTTERY..

If I won the lottery, I would feel very happy and excited because it's a huge amount of money. I've got a lot of ideas about how to spend it!

First of all, I would like to buy a bigger house for my family. For myself, I would probably buy a plane ticket for a trip. What's more I would donate much money to two associations, one against cancer because relatives of mine have suffered from it, and the other association against poverty because it hurts to eat and think that others can't eat because of poverty.

If I had any money left, I would invest it for my future.

I think it's almost impossible to win the lottery because nobody in my family plays the lottery, but I'll never lose hope!!

A HOLIDAY ABROAD OR A HOLIDAY AT HOME ?

Today every society hasn't got free time, everything is easier with technology. However everything happens faster, the time, the job, the study, etc. We are all stressed and we need a change of routine. So we all think about enjoying the time to the maximum especially during the holidays. One way to enjoy time-traveling.

On the one hand, there are people who prefer to stay at home, they prefer to relax watching TV, sleeping, going to the cinema, etc. Personally I think it's very boring, although we are tired, the holidays are to be enjoyed!

On the other hand, there are people who like enjoying the holidays traveling.

Traveling is a good idea as you can get to know new cultures, you can meet different people, you can practice other languages, you can change the environment, to sum up,it's fantastic physically and mentally.

In conclusion, the only disadvantages to traveling is money because travel is a bit expensive, however you can travel to another city in your country, you will also enjoy it.

REGGAE CONCERT

Last summer I went to a concert in Lyon, France with some friends and it was exciting because it was the first time I had been to reggae concert.

The first thing Idid was checking the tickets with my friends, the tickets were very expensive because it was a small concert. I've always liked reggae music but I had never been to a reggae concert in French! The field was very crowded and the feeling was absolutely amazing because all people were screaming " Mr Lezard ", the name of the singer. Afterwards, Mr Lezard began to sing the best songs from his new CD and we began to dance.

After the concert, we had dinner with some teenages we met in the concert.

Definitely, I'll never regret to have been to the concert and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

It was impressive!

My friend Denise

My friend Denise is from Paris and she's one of the most important people in my life. She's sixteen years old, she's slim and medium height. She's got hazel eyes, long, brown and straight hair.

Denise is cheerful and talkative, she talks very quickly. In fact, the first time when I met her at the airport, she began to speak French fast and I didn't know anything. But now, we understand very well.

She plays piano perfectly and she dreams about becoming a great pianist. When I met her, she played my favorite song on piano, the song is Kiss the Rain .

Although I see her only in the holidays, we get on really well and we are like sisters. All in all, I think Denise is a great friend and the distance isn't so important for a friendship.

My essay

Hi, my name's Malika and I'm sixteen years old. I'm a bit bored at the moment because I'm studyind for chemistry examination. But when I'm not studying, I like doing the usual things.

One of my main interests in French, I study French and I love speaking French with others, listening to French music and translate the lyrics, read magazines, watching French films, etc. I have been to France a lot of times and I have many French friends, my best friend is from Paris and we speak every day, it's really exciting because I can practise my pronunciation with her.

I don't have a second interest, I like doing many things, going to the cinema, hanging out with my friends, going to shopping, whatching a film with my friends or family, going to beach...
I've got lots of different interests, I think I'm never bored because I've got many options.
