THIS IS ME

Hi, my name is Abir and I am 17 years old. I was born in 2001 and since then I have lived in Badalona, it is a town located on the outskirts of Barcelona. I live with my parents and my two little siblings, so I am the oldest sister. Right now I am  studying my last year in high school, I still don't know very well what I want to dedicate professionally, anyway, I think I will make a scientific career.

I am 1.65 m tall, here in Spain that is to be in the middle height, so I consider myself a tall girl. My hair is wavy and black, my eyes are big and dark brown. I have been wearing glasses since I was 12 years old, but I am thinking about wearing contact lenses.

I am very hard-working and ambitious person, that sometimes stresses me a bit but it is okay, being that way helps me to improve as a student. I like to meet new people. I also consider myself a person who takes care of the rest, I think it is because of being the older sister in my house.

When I have time I like to go out with my family or with my friends, having fun with them is what a like the most. Whenever I can, I listen to music in English, that helps me to improve my level. And I love photography, I think it is a way to freeze all the good moments.

Different, happier ending of Part One 

The handsome young man and Dorothy were already at the Municipal Building. He was thinking of some excuse to take Dorothy to the roof, then he said: Darling, why do not we climb the roof and smoke a cigarette? Anyway the Marriage License Bureau will not open until twelve, there is still half an hour before then. She nodded and took his hand.

As they climbed the stairs in silence, the handsome  young man did not stop looking at Dorothy, he had never seen her so beautiful. She looked like an angel in that long white dress, she was too innocent to deserve a punishment like death.

Suddenly the boy began to feel remorse, now he felt unable to kill Dorothy, even though he did not love her, they had spent many good times together, and after all, she was pregnant with his child. Could he live with that guilt for the rest of his life? probably not.

They were already on the roof, Dorothy seemed very calm and serene, the young man without thinking twice took Dorothy's hand, hugged and kissed her hard, closed the door of the roof and ran down the stairs.

He had a plan B, if he did not feel courage to kill Dorothy he would escape from the city, by the time the suicide note reached Ellen, he would already be far away and would never be caught.

The young man had family in Russia and they would surely welcome him for a while. In Russia he could start a new life, without money, but at least, he could sleep at night without remorse. Besides, maybe Dorothy, feeling lonely, would abort the baby and everything will be fine again.

WRITTING EXAM 2

If we talk about real friends, I can sure that you won't have friends for your money, but if people are interested in you just for what you had, that is a bit sad, because they don't love you they love your money, so they are not your friends.

A friend is someone who loves you no matter what, even if you are poor or rich, a relationship can not be built with money, but with love.

I wish everyone had that last sentence very clear in their minds, because you have to be careful choosing who are your real friends and who are not.

Friends that love you just for your money, when you waste all that you have, I can asure you they will not be there for you.

WRITTING EXAM 1

It is true, I totally agree with this topic. Nowadays, society is becoming a society of consumerism. People buy things that they don't need, just for the reason that it is Black Friday and we have to buy everything we can. It is like an obligation, or at least, people think it is an obligation.

In my opinion, it is good to have a day with bargains, but we need to realize the real objective with Black Friday, and other days like that one.

People need to be kind and humble with the rest of the world, I mean, on Black Friday people waste money on a lot of things, that maybe they will not use and... What about African kids? What about people don't have food? What about homeless? Those need more help, this people need money, and the only thing we do in days like Balck Friday is waste money on unnecessary things.

I wish people realized this fact and tried to change the superficiality in this mad world.

PHILOSOPHY TEXT

Relation between idea and thing/concept according to Platon

For Palton the idea does nor depend on the mind to be. For him the Word idea is not equal to concept, there are different definitions. For Platon, ideas are in the intelligible world, but the concepts of things are found in the sensitive world. Why does he say that? In fact, the concept can change according to the person, so, if there are several concepts for a single object, this can not be part of an intelligible world, but the sensitive world (there everything changes constantly), on the other hand the idea is unique (it does not change) that is why it belongs to the intelligible world.

An example of a concept would be the table. We all understand what a table is, because all of us have the same idea, in contrast, when we talk about the concepts is different, I mean, my concept of table will be different from the concept "table" of another person. Maybe I can imagine a brown table, and another person imagine it green. For this reason, Platon says that there are several concepts for a single idea. The concepts are in the mind, but the idea is independent of the mind, the idea is beyond. The idea trascends the things, it is an objective reality (unique, it does not change), while the concept is subjective (varies according to the subjects).

There is an important name that you have to know, it is "Demiürg", this is a formator God that gives form to the idea, for example, to form a case what the "Demiürg" would do is to take the idea case, take a little mass and create the case, shape the case. So, the idea would be used as a mold.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY

First of all, being with my family, spending time with them, seeing them happy, with health, that's what makes me happy. 

Going out with my friends, having fun and laughing a lot, that satisfies me. Sometimes the best plans are those that are not planned. I remember once, I was sick and I felt bad, so a friend of mine came to my house and took me to the cinema, we saw a fun movie, we were laghing all the way throw and when we left the cinema, I felt cured of my cold. 

My perfect plan for a winter afternoon will always be to curl up in a blanket, with a hot ColaCao in my hand, and listen to music or watch a movie. 

That may sound a bit silly, but it makes me very happy to get good grades, I feel proud of myself when I get excellent, although for this there is much effort behind.

Waking up early in the morning, going out to the street and listening to the birds singing while the wind blows in my face. It sounds very cheesy but sometimes the small details can make us the happiest in the world. 

Trevel. I think it is one of the things I like to do the most. That emotion that I feel, and those nerves that one has before taking the road are the most. 

CASTLE, ONE OF THE BEST SERIES EVER

Castle is an American detective series starring Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion. The series is about a writer, Richard Castel, who spends time with the New York police, assisting in homicide cases with Inspector Catherin Beckett. Day after day, they fall in love more and more,  finally they get married in the second season.

I recommend seeing it because the truth is that the crime scenes are very original and the cases are different from each other, besides Richard is a very funny man and the chapters are very entertaining.

THREE WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH OUTSIDE THE CLASS

There are many ways to learn languages specially English, which is very important language. It is becoming more and more widespread and son we will need it for all kind of Jobs. Also, if you love to travel, English will be very useful for you.

Sometimes attending your English clases is not enough, and you have to find other ways to supplement your learning. Here you have some tips that will surely help you to improve your English.

1. Working on pronunciation is very important and there is not a better way to do it than watching movies and videos in English. I recommend that you suscribe to channels in English. Youtubers and Influencers are very fashionable nowadays, watching their daily routines in English will help you learn a lot of vocabulary and above all improve your pronunciation.

2. The mobile is a tool that we use almost 24 hours a day, how about changing the settings of your cell phone from Spanish or Catalan language to English? There are very interesting words to learn like: low battery, reminders, wallpapers, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

3. A very useful technique to learn everyday household words is to write them on papers and paste them on the object. Visual memory helps to learn without realizing it.

We live in a world of facilities, everything is simple and fast, so let's take advantage of it to learn.

A DESCRIPTION OF A PERSON

I am going to describe a friend of mine called Amal, she is 16 years old and she is from Badalona. She lives with her parents and little sisters, sometimes her grabdmother and grandfather come to Badalona to visit her, at present they live in Morrocco. The fact is that her extended family lives here in Badalona so they can see each other very often. Amal is studying fist os a social baccalaureate. At the beginning it was not clear to her, she was not sure if she was capable but finally she plucked up enough courage and now she is doing it very well. 

She is incredibly friendly, she is really outgoing and nice to other people, she has a very strong personality that helps her to be independent and, sometimes, she is a bit loud, but that is because she is very funny and she likes to laugh very loudly. When we go down the street and she starts laughing, all the people turn to watch us and it is embarrassing for me, but it is okey. In fact, what I like most about her is that she always makes me laugh, and it is something that I should thank her. About how she looks like, I can say she is a beautiful girl. She is medium hig, which is a veil worn by some Muslim women, which usually covers the head and chest. She usually wears trainers and trousers or colorful dresses.

She likes to go out with her friends, and have some drinks or eat out. When she is resting at home she usually listens to music or makes muffins, she likes to cook desserts, she says it is a way to relax.

At the moment she is studying baccalaureate, but in two years she is going to do a law degree, because she wants to be a lawyer. This summer she is going to do the theoretical driving test, and I am sure she will pass it. 

DO YOU WANT SOME ADVICE?

You have noticed your best friend cheating in an end-of-term exam. A lot of teens cheat, but you and your friend have always been against it, up to now. What would you do?

I shouldn't do anything because my friend is the one who has betrayed his principles, so the problem is his not mine, maybe he will not be able to sleep at night from that day, because he should feel bad for what he has done. Besides, I don't know what happened so that my friend did such an act, maybe he has a motive strong enough to betry himself. In spite of everything, If someday he started to criticize someone who has cheated in an exam, Then I would leave things clear to him and I would face everything to him.

Your sister has a boyfriend and one day she asks you to answer the phone and tell her boyfriend she is ill and that she can't go out that Saturday night. You know she is planning to meet another boy that night. What would you do?

I would talk to her and explain her, from my point of view, why what she does is wrong. I would advise her that she should break up with her boyfriend, and then, once she has no responsibilities to other people (her boyfriend I mean), she can go out with the boy she wants, she shouldn't be unfaithful, that will leave her a bad reputation and I don't think that she feels good about herself doing something like that.

You are completely against smoking. Your brother asks you to bring him a carton of cigarettes from the Duty Free Shop when you go to London next week so that he can save some money. What would you do?

First of all, I would not buy the cigarette carton because it goes against my ideals and then I would explain to him why she shouldn't smoke. Surely, when he hears all the consequences of smoking, and how much it affects a person both physically and psychically, he will understand me and stop smoking. In case that doesn't happen, I, being his sister, should help him to leave that vice giving emotional support.

MY GAP YEAR

If I had a gap year and enough money, I would go to all the places in the world, because I love travelling, I think that it is the best wey to learn but I know also that it is impossible because in just one year I couldn't go to all those places and enjoy them thoroughly, That is why I am going to choose only some destinations, those that since childhood I have dreamet of going.

The first place will be Greece, specifically the islands of Santorini. There I will not only enjoy some splendid landscapes, I also plan to visit archaelogical sites like Akrotiri to know a little about the past of these beautiful islands, and I intend to spend whole days in some of the most exotic beaches of Santorini, like the Red Beach.

The second place will be India, I have always manted to visit the Taj Mahal. Places like this give me a lot of inner peace and mental tranquility, and in that calm I will enjoy the trip much more. What excites me the most is to wear a Sari, is a typical indian dress. I don't know if it will be very comfortable, but I am sure  it will fit me.

I would like to go to Finland in January, which is the best time to see the northern lights. Can you imagine what it would be like to see all that colorful lights dancing in the sky? Amazing!
Despite being at -8 degrees, I truly believe that the experience is worth it.

Finally I can't finish my gap year without visiting Japan. I would like to try Takoyaki, it is a traditional food of Japan, it is a fried balls of flour stuffed with pieces of octopus, mmmh... delicious! I can even smell them... - I am kidding, but it must be very tasty.

Befoure leaving I will bathe in an onsen, which is a very special Japanese bath. It is a very concrete ritual of purification, separated by sexes and you have to go without a bathing suit, first you have to wash with the showers and then proceed to the bath in the thermal pools, the onsen.

These are some countries that I would like to visit, and in the presentation I will show you some more. I hope that someday these wishes are fulfilled, it will surely be an unforgettable year.

9 a.m. My nose still hurts me and it is very swollen, but today Pandora will come to see me in the afternoon, that relieves my pain a bit.

My mother made me breakfast, the toasts were burned, but I didn't say anything....

2 p.m. I'm very nervous. My nose looks like a cucumber. I'm thinking it better and the truth is that I'm ashamed that Pandora sees me like that. But I'm so eager to see her ... I'll have to hide my gigantic nose with my grace, because if not, Pandora will leave.

Thinking about it, If my grace is the only point in favor for Pandora to stay, I think she will leave.

Monday, April 5th

I feel like the happiest kid in the world. Today, my nose doesn't hurt and everything is thanks to Pandora. Do you believe in miracles? I didn't believe in them until yesterday. Pandora kissed me, despite how ugly I was for my nose, she kissed me. Now I'm sure she's in love with me, honestly with the looks I had yesterday, I wouldn't even kiss myself, but she did it.

I can't believe what is happening. Barbara Bayer asked me to go on a date with her, she says that I liked her too, but she didn't want to say it because she didn't want to look bad in front of Pandora and her friends. Why are people like that?

 I haven't answered her, I need to meditate it.

Thursday, April 8th

Yesterday I didn't go to class, I needed to think. Now I have to choose between Barbara and Pandora. I like Barbara a lot, but I'm in love with Pandora.

I wish I could keep the two.

Friday, April 9th

Barbara asked me for an answer and I told her that I don't want to be with her, I said I love Pandora (or so I think), after all, Pandora kissed me even when my nose was swollen, that's a test of love, right?

Saturday, April 10th

Today I went to the vet with my parents, the dog is sick, they say it has a virus in its stomach. I hope it gets better.

In the afternoon Pandora came home to have a snack together. My mother has bought some muffins from Mercadona's and some juices, I really have been thinking more about the muffins than Pandora.

A FOREIGNER IN BRITAIN

Hi, my name is Antonio and I am Spanish. My mother is English and my father is American. I was born in Spain and I grew up between Washington and Barcelona, that's why I am a very open person and I love meeting new people and having new experiences. This year I finish the career and I want to do something memorable, leave a mark at University before leaving, you know what I mean. I'll explain, don't worry...

I love reading books about adventures, history, travel, etc. also that helps me to write. I had not told you? I love writing. Whenever I have time I write. One of my dreams is to write a book, a book that helps me and helps others, and finally I had the opportunity.

All the final year students we were offered to participate in an English language competition. The participants had three months to write a book, the only condition was that it has to be in English. Whoever won the competition, his or her book would be published and recommended for high school students. Then I though... Perhaps I would have to introduce myself and try, right? So it was. The fact that you are reading this post, makes it clear to you to know who won, right?

THE PLACE WHERE I LIVE

Marrakech is a city located in the southwest of Morocco, almost 200.000 people live in it. The city has an altitude of 466 meters because it is located on the slopes of the Atlas. Next to Meknes, Fez and Rabat, it is one of the four imperial cities of Morocco.

Marrakech is a city characterized by its great culture. It is well known for its large flea markets, historical monuments and immense gardens. For all those thing, in the summer there are many tourists in the city, who comes to see a bit of the History of Morocco. All buildings in the city are red ocher, so they also call It "the red city".

The weather is mild throughout the summer, it can even reach 40 degrees but the winters are warmer than we are used to in Spain. During the year, in Marrakech does not rain much, and that makes it a dry city.

The city has the traditional market -in Arabic it is pronounced suq- the largest in the country and one of the busiest squares in Africa and the world, Djemaa el Fna. In the square there are acrobats, storytellers, water sellers, dancers and musicians who act to make people laugh and have a good time. At night, the square is filled with food stalls, becoming a great open-air restaurant. The time I had dinner there, I had a great time. Everything was lit with colorful lights, the waiters were very friendly and the food  was delicious. I could not ask for more! It was spectacular!

I believe that the best thing about Marrakech is the atmosphere that is breathed. Sometimes the most cultural cities become industrialized and lose their magic, but I think Marrakech still maintains that magic makes you feel like part of a fifteenth century story when you are walking through the streets. The people are very nice and in every corner of the city there is a beautiful story.

THE FASHION SPIES

Fashion is a category that has existed for a long time. Every season a new trend emerges, but in reality it is all very false. Fashion as a term is very general, everyone can dress as he or she likes. On the other hand, fashion as a category, its only interest is money, so it is purely an economic issue, where people are manipulated to buy what companies want to be bought.

For that, fashion companies use fashion spies to know what people are interested in, and that way they can earn  a lof of money. Going back to what I said before, fashion comes from us and not from fashion companies.

In the case that someday they asked me to be a fashion spy, I would deny the offer, because it seems to me that companies play a lot with people's lives, presenting their clothes with the thinnest models, which causes the youngest girls always to think that they are fat and ugly.

An Opinion Essay

LIVE CONCERTS ARE THE BEST WAY TO LISTEN TO MUSIC. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Personally, I think that to enjoy music, it isn't necessary to go to a concert. It's quite the apposite. To enjoy music it is better to listen to it at home.

In my opinion, music can be enjoyed anywhere, although concerts are not the best place. Even if you have the opportunity to listen to the song live, there is a lot of noise, and the noise of the people is heard more tan the voice of the singer. In my addition there is usually a very confusing atmosphere and there are always many people, so in a concert you are more concerned about your bag than the music you are going to listen to.

Secondly, most of the concerts people are standing on, and if you want a good seat you have to pay a much more expensive ticket. Besides, you aren't guaranteed that the singer does playback, I am sure that would be even more disappointing.

Thirdly, the money is also an important quiestion. There are tickets that are very expensive, and as I said before no one guarantees that everything will go well, at any time there could be an unexpected incident the other option and which is better, is to buy the album or download the music on You Tube, and listen serenely at home. Then you have guaranteed a good seat, tranquility, and confort, that in my view it's the most important thing.

In conclusion, if you really want to enjoy music, the best thing you can do is download the song online, go home, lay on the couch and put the music to the maximum or put on headphones. I strongly believe that in this way you will be more comfortable and calmer, and you will enjoy the music to the full.

My favourite photo

In fact I don't have any favourite picture but I like all the pictures I have. The photo that I have chosen is one of the most recent. A photo of my friends and me.

It was in April 2017, last course, and some class friends and I participated in a contest of the CWMUN with our English teacher, he accompanied us and helped us a lot. In the photo we were ina school called San Peter's, in Barcelona. Our teacher Rogelio, took the picture to keep it as a memory of that fabulous experience that we had. 

In the photo, we were in the assembly hall, and there were fifteen minutes to make our presentation in front of one hundred people, so we were very nervous, nevertheless in the photo we seen very calm and serene. Our teacher said to us: " guys calm down and get over the fear. Don't worry you have worked hard on this", and then we just enjoyed the moment

For me this photo reflects the overcoming of fear and nerves. From that experience I learned a lot to control the fear in front of a hundred people. An experience that I will take with me until the end of my days. 

I have the photo on the computer and also on the USB. In this way I will never lose it.

Personal Profile

My name is Abir and I am 16 years old. I am from Barcelona and I single. I am studying at La Pineda, and I chose the scientific baccalaureate, because I prefer maths and chemistry to languages.

I have two siblings, their names are Malak and Rayan.  Here, in Barcelona, I live with my parents, but in the summer holidays I always go to Morocco, because my parents are from there.

Every Friday I go out to the bar with my friends, and when we have time, we also go to the gym. They are very funny and they are fantastic to be with them.

I am quite tall, and I have long black hair and big brown eyes. I am quite sociable person, and I am very talkative - my mum always says that - and I am very hard-working. I like to do my best.

Also I like music of all kinds, when I have free time I always listen to music. When I was eleven I went once a week to some classes to learn to play the piano. I liked but I didn't learn enough. Also when I was seven I went a valet dancer, but I was not very well.

The seasons that I like most are spring and winter. Spring is beautiful, everything is dyed in bright colours. And I love the winter because I was born in January.

My dream is to travel around the world and work on what makes me happy, but now I have to focus on baccalaureate to get it right, and then have a college career.

I like people with a good sense of humour and I love kind persons.
