SUMMER 2012

This year my friends and I are planning to go to Ibiza.
The idea is to rent an apartment in the centre of the island so we can do whatever we want there, because you have everthing.

Then we have recently planned to go dancing at the disco every night or to have dinner at a very beautiful restaurant in front of the beach and then go to a pub and drink something.

In the morning we sleep and then wake up at lunchtime, have something to eat and go to the beach till sunset.
So that is our plans for this summer, we are going to have a great time together with my friends because it is a nice friendship and we will never forget this type of things we do all together...

Easter Holidays

Badalona
4th February
Hi Carla,
How’s life in Barcelona? Sorry I haven’t written for a while, but I’ve been very busy with exams. At the moment, I’m thinking about what I want to do at Easter holidays.
I’m going to go to Bora Bora with my best friends Marta and Andrea. We are going to a hotel in Motus.
Then we are going to go to the spa, because we like to relax. Andrea likes to relax and she will sunbathe on the beach. Marta and I will swim with dolphins and turtles.
Then we are going to dive. We will be seeing corals and stingrays.
Have you decided what you’re going to do?
All the best,
Alba
P.S. I love you so much.

CoRot-20b

Here we have another unexpected surprise for the astronomers and the scientific community in general to ponder.

A new ultra dense planet has been found. A newly discovered planet called CoRot-20b which is  4,000 light-years away is just too dense. This planet defies the planet-formation theory.

This planet is thought to be a gas giant about four-fifths the size of Jupiter and  it orbits close to a sunlike star.

According to a new study, despite its small size, the planet has 4 times Jupiter's mass,  this makes CoRoT-20b one of the most compacted  known planets.

Astronomers had always thought that the stars are born from debris disks that surround the stars that are just born.  In our solar system, the sun's so-called protoplanetary disk gave rise to a lot of  planets and still had a lot of material left from  the planet formation, this material   is what now  we call asteroids and comets.

However, the new study confirms that CoRoT-20b would have had to have sucked up every last atom of material heavier than helium from its star's protoplanetary disk to form the planet's massive core.

I'm  looking forward to how scientifics solve this riddle.

I feel like the nature is saying :  "You thought you had me all figured out, huh? "hehehe anyways congrats for the new discovery and keep working hard . There are so many things out there that we still don't know isn't that exciting?

Till the next surprise ladies and gentlemen.

Jose Consuegra - Advantages and disadvantages of being an only child

I think being an only child has the advantage that you can have all the attention of your parents for you when you’re a child, that could avoid jealousy of one brother to another, being an only child also has the advantage of having more peace and privacy at home and also it avoids the possibility of having to share rooms (something that always brings problems).

But I think there are more advantages than disadvantages because having a brother is a connection with someone that will last forever, if nothing happens he or she is the person who will share forever a bond of union. The advantage as a young child is that you always have someone to play with, and share your concerns, and when you’re adult it’s something like this but different, it can be so useful because you can always share the family problems with someone and if the relationship is good between the two, you'll have a family support forever.

Famous Quotes: Money & success

Match and discuss the following quotes:

  1. Success comes to those
  2. If you can count your money,
  3. Money can't buy you friends,
  4. Becoming number one
  5. Success is one percent inspiration
  6. Success is getting what you want,
  7. Success is relative,
  8. Money talks, they say,

who are too busy to look for it.
and ninety-nine percent perspiration.
then you are not really a rich man.
all it ever said to me was "goodbye".
happiness is wanting what you get.
it can only rent them.
is easier than staying number one.

Hey everyone. Here are a couple of videos which  i found on youtube.

Just found this clip  and its really funny. You shoul take a look to it. The clip is about Sir  Isac Newton and his famous "Apple" anecdote

Here's another one which is about some sheeps (in my opinion those sheeps are really scary I mean look at their faces its like " ......Gosh!........"   and the voice of the men is totally hilarious.

A letter to my friend

Hey Sara ! What's up? How was your trip to Spain? Did you have fun? What about your exams? Did you do well? I'm sure you did an excelent job like in all your former exams. Unfortunatly mine weren't that good. The exams are worse than a day in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with the only company of sharks. I scarcely had time while the exams were still on.

By the way this Saturday I'm going to a concert and It'll be nice if you can come with me. Maybe the exams will start again within two weeks and a nice concert will probably ease our brains from all the stress. If you decide to come than there's something you should know: almost all the tickets are sold. Therefore I'll have to run and buy a ticket as soon as possible. In the meanwhile you should try to buy your own ticket.

Ah! I almost forgot; Lise is going to come too thought she doesn't even know the name of the group. Yeah I know, its strange to go to a concert without knowing the group's name.By the way , did I mention that the concert will start at half past ten?

I will not allow you, in plain terms, to say no to my invitation. You must come! Take care. See you and keep writing.

Happy birthday to you, sir Charles Dickens!

So today is the day! Happy 200th birthday to Charles Dickens! And from here we would like to contribute to this world-wide celebration as well as joining Ignacio Castro's proposal to all bloggers of publishing a post in homage to England's greatest novelist after Shakespeare.

Thank you Mª Jesus for this photo montage which reminds us of some of the most well-known novels by Dickens. What good memories these titles bring us all!!

One of the many events being organised today is a 24 hour global Dickens reading marathon which has been organised by the British Council across 24 countries from Albania to China, Pakistan to Russia.
Reading extracts from Dickens's books is probably one of the best ways to celebrate such an anniversary.

If you check the British Council twitter, you will see the links to the many videos of people from different countries contributing to this reading marathon. I would like to embed here for you the video of the girl who represents Albania.
Happy reading!!!

Have you ever read any books by Charles Dickens? Maybe translated into Catalan or Spanish?
Have you seen any of the many films based on his books?
Or perhaps you have read a graded reader of one of his books in your English classes in previous years.
TELL US ABOUT IT!!

Finally, here is an animation video which summarises his life and a tribute to Charles Dickens.
